Last week my team was reviewing our upcoming event calendar and the subject of PerfectBusiness.com’s “Perfect Pitch 2009” event came up. This event is perfect for us – thousands of entrepreneurs and a list of business leaders that reads like Fast Company and Forbes had a love child. Richard Branson is the keynote speaker, which in itself is enough to warrant the near $300 ticket. That being said, my company is bootstrapping, has a lot of contractors to pay, and $300 is 6 client lunches or business cards for my whole management team.
So, Serena, our EVP of Social Media who will be out of town and cannot attend the event on Monday, said that she heard through her socalTECH subscription, that they were giving away a few tickets. The contest? Nothing much, just let socalTECH know why you like them in an email and they will draw a winner. For those of you who don’t know socalTECH, explaining why you like them couldn’t be easier – other than narrowing down a lengthy list. We immediately sent them an email:
We love socalTECH because…
It’s the definitive resource for technology news and insight for three reasons:
- learning about events in the SoCal area (the calendar rocks!)
- researching the SoCal tech industry (tons of great local industry data inside!)
- staying current on SoCal tech-related news (the feeds and newsletter give it to you directly!)
Here’s another way to say why we love the socalTECH service:
- Once a month, we look at the calendar for the next 6 weeks out and plan our networking and educational time. We start with socalTECH first, each and every time.
- On a weekly basis, we research local industry partners, competitors, and industry leaders. socalTECH has a robust and deep database of information.
- On a daily basis, we get news feeds from socalTECH that keep us in the loop on local goings-on. It’s the one-stop-shop that makes it easy to stay informed.
And…it’s the number one place where Startup Army finds new, innovative companies who we want to be working with and who need help building and scaling their businesses.
Long story short, this morning I received an email from Ben Kuo at socalTECH that I had won a free ticket to Monday’s killer event!! Needless to say, I ironed my suit (no, not really – anyone who knows me will get this) and have placed my triple latte pre-order at Groundworks in Venice for 8am that morning. I am going to need a turbo boost to take full advantage of the awesome sessions and networking opportunities on Monday. If anyone is going, please give me a nudge and let’s meet up! It’s going to be awesome.
Thanks, Ben, socalTECH and Perfect Pitch!
